Animation Workshop

The use of an animation could be used within the project ‘A Work Which Moves from One Place to Another’ as it shows movement.

Movement – I could use these images as inspiration for the project ‘A Work Which Moves from One Place to Another’ as they portray the movement of a car.

Context - A Work Which Moves From One Place To Another

The title ‘make a work which moves from one place to another’ is widely open to interpretation; which left me with many possibilities to look at. I began looking at works that physically move like; animations, people, vehicles, light etc, things that move or can be viewed in different places like emails, letters, text messages and advertisements. And images that give the illusion that they are moving e.g. flip books.

I chose to minimize my ideas and look closer at some which I feel I can take forward to my final piece. I created a spider diagram to document this.

Golden Ticket

I wanted to recreate the 5 golden tickets from the film. I took an image of the original golden ticket and altered it, having the Cadbury logo instead of Wonka.

I thought to link with the film, I displayed them by hiding them around the room so the audience would have to find the 5 golden tickets.

Enlarging The Game

Using the two designs, I have changed them from being a hand game to large sculptures.

I feel this idea is good and would be successful; however for the amount of time I have to make the final piece, it is not realistic.

Artist Research - Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons is well known for his giant reproductions of banal objects, such as balloon animals.

Like koons, I will be changing a child iconic object into a much larger scale sculpture.

Only Numbers

I like the simplicity and maturity of this design,  therefore I will take this one forward.

Only Colours

I feel this design is interesting as it is simple but still keeps the child like style of the game, I will be taking this one forward.

Display - A Work Which Unfolds, Opens Out Or Spreads Out

The first thing that came to mind when I read this project was origami, as its artwork created using a series of folds. Even though the brief stated unfolds and opens out, I thought origami could still be a possibility to look at. I created a mind map of ideas and object that unfold, opens out and spreads out.

After researching different ideas, I wanted to look further into origami. I played around with making different pieces, using Youtube for instructions.

I am interested in taking the idea of an origami game forward, and will experiment different techniques.

Bourneville Postcards

I created an Oompa Loompa print and added it over the collected images I got of Bourneville. These images were influenced by pop art.

After I produced and printed the images I thought they looked as if they could be postcards for Bourneville. Therefore I went onto drawing a postcard template onto the back of the images.  I decided to display them in a postcard/ leaflet rack to give them more of a realistic look.

Bourneville Fantasy

After creating these images on Photoshop, I added extra effects using a photography app on my mobile, e.g. The old photo effect and the blur.

Introduction Project

A small print on a mailbox becomes something really precious when you remove all the noise around it an isolate it from its setting.’ (Merel Karhof). Explore familiar or alien surroundings by isolating, documenting and displaying anything you think will create a new awareness of the landscape.

I went out and adventured around Bourneville taking images I thought were interesting and that represented the place. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Bourneville is Cadbury world.

As well as having images to work with I got some information about Bourneville, Finding out it was set up to house the workers of the Cadbury factory.

The 1971 film ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’ came to mind, I know it is very predictable but I love being swept up in the fantasy.  From this thought I wanted to mix the fantasy of the film with the reality of Bourneville.

I chose to use the software Photoshop to produce the final outcomes.

Image - Chewing Gum Project

I chose this project as I thought it was interesting and could produce a successful final piece.

The idea of making something out of chewing gum (sculpture) was my first thought, but then I went on to think about how people leave used gum anywhere, instead of being environmentally friendly, respectful and generally clean. Its so annoying when you get stuck to someone else’s used chewing gum; therefore I am going to look into how I can use this fact to take forward this project.

To gather ideas I got images of chewing gum stuck to objects in public.

Artist Research - 'Lego'

Jan Vormann spent three years travelling the world repairing crumbling walls and monuments with Lego.

Like Vormann i am also looking at trying to fixs holes using unusaual methods. Where as Vorman has actualy fixed the problem hole, i want to create a barrier of fixing it.

Ideas 1,2 and 4

Idea 1:
This idea is very literal, however I feel I could make an interesting a successful final piece.
To try and create a hole that is too hard to fix, I could experiment by making different holes and trying to fix them myself, doing this till there is a hole I cannot fix.

Idea 2:
I thought this idea could be split into two, as it could be a cartoon image or it could be an actual sock. From looking on the internet I found these images that could inspire this idea.

Idea 4:
I think this idea can produce some good and funny images. However after trying to think were to take it, I don’t think I can develop it much more. Apart from, actually producing this idea as an installation, but it would be very time consuming.
